hi- we're nic and kirsten (and 17 month old daphne) and we live in rexburg.
we bought our 1979 riviera camper [rivieras are camper conversions done by ASI for Riviera Moters in Beaverton, OR when VW wouldn't send them enough westys to keep up with the demand for campers- so rivieras were born!] last summer and we love to camp in it. But, even driving it around rexburg is fun too. We have big plans to restore it inside and out along with getting a new motor eventually.
your bus looks sweet! i wish ours was a camper. we got your little business card thing and it made our day! what trip are you planning? we have a 1979 vw transporter. it needs some work and isn't currently dependable but this month that should be fixed. you know anyone in the area that can by the way?
ReplyDeletehey!
ReplyDeleteour bus isn't running super awesome right now either :( well, it's had an oil leak ever since we bought it last year but we pump it full of oil every 30 miles or so that hasn't really stopped us from driving it. but then this winter the battery went dead and we got a new one but something is draining the battery and we can't figure it out. so, we have this starter box thing and have to use that to start it so we don't drive it nearly as often as we'd like. we haven't ever taken our car in to him but we've heard jim serr automotive 208.524.2200 in IF is good with old VWs. What is wrong with your bus?
we've heard about these huge campouts with hundreds of buses so we thought it would be cool to do a local sort of thing... so we made the cards and hopefully we'll see lots of people driving around in their buses this summer to invite! we'll probably do it sometime in mid-july and we'll keep it close since not everyone's buses are in great shape (including ours) you guys should email me pics of your bus and i'll put it up on the blog :) evapaul.dp@gmail.com
Count us in for the camp out! I got your "for the love of the bus" card as well and was very excited. I have a 86 Vanagon. I haven't driven it in a little while so I'm not sure how long the card was on it. We bought a new car and have thought about selling the bus but it has been in my family since I was like 2 years old, and it is pretty much part of the family now. I will probably end up keeping it until it blows up. Let me know when you decide to do the camp out, that sounds really fun. I will try and send some pictures for your blog soon.

yay! keep the bus. we've thought about selling it too- but then we knew every time we saw a bus for the rest of our lives we'd be depressed- so we're keeping it! forever! :)
ReplyDeletelaurel was in a class with us and told us about your bus! we'll keep everyone posted on the camping trip. it looks like we'll all have to fix our buses first!
